Join us, for eight nights of major new films prior to their first run local release.

The series is hosted by nationally recognized film expert Pete Hammond Tuesday nights at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood. A lively Q & A follows each screening with the filmmakers and top movie talent.


The James and Paula Coburn Foundation (JPCF) is a tax exempt private foundation that supports charitable organizations devoted to the arts and sciences. The foundation is committed to upholding the Coburns’ dedication to local and international advancement through music, art, education, as well as, physical and spiritual health.

For our "Coburn Classic" this series we have one of his final - and best- films, the critically acclaimed but not widely seen 2001 film,"The Man From Elysian Fields" about a failed novelist whose money problems causes problems in his marriage and leads him to work at an escort service where he becomes involved with a wealthy woman whose husband is a successful writer. Set in Santiago, Chile, "The Maid" is the story of a long time live-in maid for the Valdes family who becomes threatened when they decide to bring on extra help and she engages in a series of increasingly frantic acts to hold on to her position in this sharp comedic drama about family, class and self-discovery. Catalina Saavedra stars in the film which won the World Cinema Jury Prize and Dramatic Special Jury prize for acting at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
