In the fall of 2009, PBS will air Ken Burns's and Florentine Films' new series THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA'S BEST IDEA. The six-episode, twelve-hour series is directed by Burns and produced with his long-time colleague, Dayton Duncan, who also wrote the screenplay.
At its heart, the film is the story of an idea, as uniquely American as the Declaration of Independence and just as radical - that the most special places in the nation should be preserved, not for royalty or the rich, but for everyone. As such, it follows in the tradition of Burns' exploration of other American inventions, such as baseball and jazz.
KCET would like to invite you and a guest to join us in celebrating the nationwide premiere of Ken Burns' THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICA'S BEST IDEA.
In addition to an exclusive preview screening of segments of the 6-part series, the event will include:
- Park Hikes and Docent Tours
- Q&A session with Ken Burns, moderated by KCET's very own Huell Howser
- Reception with Hors d'Oeuvres and Beverages
Date & Time: Thursday, March 19, 2009, 5:30 PM
Location: Paramount Ranch, in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area 2813 Cornell Road Agoura Hills, CA
