At KCET, we share an abiding commitment to serve the needs of children, families and communities. From preschool programs through adult education, KCET Outreach provides people of all ages with stimulating and engaging learning opportunities through innovative television programming, print and online materials, professional development services, family education and variety of multilingual community services.
National Ready to Learn and Early Childhood Education Service - trained over 30,000 parents, teachers and child care professionals in the educational use of KCET programs such as: A Place of Our Own, Los Niņos en Su Casa, Sid the Science Kid and Sesame Street. To date, the program has impacted over 200,000 children.
KCET Local Hero Awards - celebrates national commemorative heritage months such as Asian Pacific American, Black History, Hispanic Heritage and Women's History. The program recognizes unsung heroes that are making a significant impact in our community, particularly in the following areas: business, the arts, community activism, volunteerism, education and social services. So far, over 130 exemplary individuals have been honored.
The KCET Education & Outreach Division - recognized as a model for PBS stations nationwide. It is a leader in developing general viewer and community engagement models to reinforce and extend the goals and messages of public television content.
